Players battled hard to qualify for the Super Series Premier tournament at the Preliminary Rounds of the Yonex All England 2012.

This is big. Big for the players who want to qualify for the Olympics!

The Super Series Premier hands players a rare chance to score big ranking points and hope for entering the Olympics.

Post Match Interview with Malaysia’s Local Badminton Stars, the Ng Sisters

A short but interesting interview was conducted with Ng Hui Lin/Ng Hui Ern of Malaysia. They are known as the Ng sisters in Malaysia because they are sisters! Currently studying in the UK, Hui Lin and Hui Ern are part time professional shuttlers.

Ng/Ng defeated a better pair than them in terms of world ranking, Nicole Grether/Charmaine Reid of Canada in 2 straight games (21-18, 22-20).

Tough but Victorious Day for Viktor Axelsen

Victor (aged 17) had a tough day at the preliminary rounds of the Yonex All England 2012.

Nothing came easy for Viktor’s FIRST All England Open.

Both his opponents forced him into a rubber. With the extra third game against both players, it meant the young Dane played a total of 6 games!

In addition to his tough qualification day, Viktor is going to face Kenichi Tago (JPN) at tomorrow’s First Rounds.

It’s going to be even tougher for the Dane.

The young Danish star had once before beaten the legendary Taufik Hidayat. Let’s hear what he has to say.

Interesting Matches on Day 2: Round of 32 of the Yonex All England 2012?

The big guns have yet to meet each other so most of tomorrow’s matches appear to be one sided.

It should be easy to predict who’s going to win. But we’ll look out for any surprises.

However, the good matches you might want to pay attention to are:

  • Kenichi Tago (JPN) v Viktor Axelsen (DEN)
  • Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying (MAS) v Diju V/Jwala Gutta (IND)
  • Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei (CHN) v Chris Adcock/Imogen Bankier (ENG)
  • Yip Pui Yin (HKG) v Inthanon Ratchanok (THA)

I guess these will be the most competitive and interesting matches of the day.
